Introduction:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WAEchoD stands for `Wild Amiga Echo Daemon'. WAEchoD is a daemon that
enables you to recieve messages from other people on the internet via the
echo protocol.
People logon to port 7 (Echo) via their standard telnet client or any
other client that supports telnet. They are presented with an ANSI screen
that enables them to leave a three line message. The three line message is
then displayed to you.
This a breif overview of some of WAEchoD's features...
ø Compatible with all telnet clients. Tested with AmiTCP v4 and v3
clients.
ø Works with any TCP/IP stack such as AmiTCP, Miami or TermiteTCP
(untested with TTCP).
ø Small, fast and reliable (should never hang!)
ø No external libraries or files required!
Requirements:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WAEchoD requires Workbench 1.3 or above (bearing in mind that it has been
tested with Workbench 2.04 so it definatly works on 2+)
A TCP/IP stack such as AmiTCP, Miami or TermiteTCP (although you can
run it as a standard cli/shell program to test it out locally!)
Setting Up:
~~~~~~~~~~~
Add/Edit The Following Line In AmiTCP:db/inetd.conf (or where ever you
do this on your tcp client):
echo stream tcp dos bin - AmiTCP:serv/WAEchoD
Now copy the executable (WAEchoD) to: AmiTCP:serv/
Fini!
